Here’s an example from one of my students who is sequencing digital photos to tell a story. The use of technology can bring out creativity in students. Effectively demonstrating the elements of a story (characters, setting, problems, solutions, etc.) can bring about great story telling works of art! Good Job Brody!

Use Legos to tell a story. All you need are Legos, digital camera, Movie Maker (on most computers), and your imagination. Practice story telling by including the elements of a story and then putting it together in the proper sequence. Taking picture after picture forces you to think sequentially in order for the movie to work. This movie is a series of 136 digital pictures with each picture appearing for 1 second. Have Fun!!

Winter Break

Winter Break is approaching. We are in the process of finishing up the 2nd quarter with testing and then a little fun. On Monday, the students will watch a movie in the gym with their peers. They may bring a pillow and blanket if they’d like and stretch out on the gym floor. Next Thursday is an early release day. I thought it would be fun to have a pie and hot chocolate party that day. We will have thinking/strategy games for the kids to play as well (puzzles, electric circuits, battleship, etc.)
I will send home a sign-up slip to see who would like to bring in pies as well as the type of pie. I will provide the hot chocolate.
Thank you parents!

Movie Maker – editing audio and video clips to make short videos

Filed under: Information on Monday, October 17th, 2011 by | No Comments

Here’s a sample video where I took video footage and cut and spliced it together to make a short video. I also cut up a song to sync it to my video. The result is a silly video utilizing a popular kids television show and a popular song. Editing skills require patience as well as imagination in order to produce a product that’s both creative and smooth. Videos should be edited so that the movie flows as smoothly as possible from beginning to end. Go out and film and/or take pictures of the things which interest you and create a masterpiece! Have fun exploring Windows Movie Maker.
